SIR – Councillor Green seeks to justify the squandering of a further £1m on the Media Museum because it comes from “reserves which can’t be spent on other services” (T&A, September 16).

So who is it who has decreed that council money can only be poured into the black hole of a commercial failure rather than essential services?

That the Media Museum has teetered on the edge of closure for so long is a sad commentary on the overweening egotism and profound lack of commercial acumen displayed by those responsible for running it.

Properly run and reorganised to give precedence to those areas of preferred public participation, it could be an enjoyable asset to thousands of Bradfordians rather than the few hundred who call in there from time to time.

Hopefully the Odeon will benefit from the input of commercial acumen and as the council actually own the Media Museum building a precedent could be established.
