SIR – Through your letters page, I would like to pass on the thanks of the Salvation Army in Keighley to everyone who donated food at the recent collections held in Sainsbury’s store.

Everyone was so generous, with more than 16 trolley-loads being collected during the two days we were there.

All the food donated will go to support our very busy food bank which is open, by referral, to individuals and families who are suffering crisis. At the present time, we are handing out about 100 parcels per week, but this is only possible because of the generosity of people who donate food and because of the support of our wonderful volunteers who collected and sorted.

We must also thank Sainsbury’s store and their staff for not only supporting these recent collection days but for continually collecting food throughout the year. Their support has been amazing.

The community work the Salvation Army does in and around Keighley is only possible because of the support we receive from so many individuals, local businesses, churches, schools and other organisations.
