SIR – While appreciating that new swimming pools are needed in the Bradford area, it seems folly to build a new pool in Squire Lane, thus adding more traffic to the already congested area around the Bradford Royal Infirmary and Bradford Girls’ Grammar School.

Anyone attending the BRI for an appointment or visiting patients usually spends much time driving round the hospital area in order to find somewhere to park.

I have often parked as far away as St Leonard’s Road or Lingwood Avenue, as the hospital grounds on Smith Lane car parks are usually full.

In the next five years, as more pupils are admitted to the BGG School, the traffic in Squire Lane will increase even more. Surely the most appropriate use of the land in Squire Lane is car parking for Bradford Royal Infirmary?
