SIR – Much has been said regarding the pitiful performance of public servants including the police, MPs and social services in handling the recent Rotherham grooming scandal.

It is to be hoped the children involved will finally see some justice and the same situations which no doubt flourish in other towns and cities will be dealt with in a much improved manner.

What is almost as bad is that these same people will leave their jobs at a time that suits them and dip their snouts in other public troughs, taking with them their huge salaries and pension pots that individuals in the private sector can only dream of.

Once their negligence has been proved they should not be allowed to serve in the public sector again.
