SIR - Dan Oliver, (Letters, August 8), should curb his envy. The reason we over 75’s get free TV licences is that the Government expects we won’t last much longer, the cost then becomes an inexpensive sop.
Beware what you wish for Mr Oliver, there is already “talk” of abolishing the TV licence fee and the BBC “raising revenues by other means”.
I see a “good news, bad news” situation developing. The good news? everybody will enjoy a free TV licence. The bad news if you want to watch TV you will have to pay a whacking subscription fee!
