SIR – I was amused to see a sign by the roundabout in Baildon village warning of the current long-term roadworks at the bottom of Baildon and suggesting drivers find an ‘alternative’ route.

As there are only two other suitable ‘local’ bridging points over the River Aire at Bingley and Apperley Bridge and there are weeks of roadworks on the latter, it doesn’t leave much choice or chance of escape from long queues.

Another case of well-planned infrastructure repairs?
