SIR - I wonder why people don’t stage a protest about ISIS or President Assad or the abduction of girls in Nigeria or Russian supporters in the Ukraine. (see previous correspondence)? Why are protests, including T-shirt slogans and car stickers only staged when Israel is involved?

In answer to John Hall (18 July) Arabs in Israel are not treated as second class citizens as he claims. There are even Arab MP’s in the Knesset (Parliament).

Seriously ill Arabs from the West Bank and Gaza are regularly treated in Israeli hospitals. Finally: Israel, founded by a majority vote in the UN, has a fundamental right to exist.

Of course any civilian loss of life is highly regrettable - any war has cruel consequences. Stop the Hamas rockets and a giant step will be taken to some kind of normality.
