SIR – At last. The centre for Social Justice has come out and publicly stated that the demise of the traditional UK family and the growth of, what they call, the Disposable Dad, has in the past, is now, and will in the future, been the cause of a lot of child poverty and the breakdown of family values that we are currently experiencing in the UK.

I know some people will disagree with my views, some will call me old fashioned, but the family set-up consisting of Mum and Dad and children, married, living in the same house, in my opinion, takes some beating.

It worked for hundreds of years before today, it would work in the future.

It also promotes a higher standard of values in the children of the family and provides a firm foundation for the future prosperity of all of us.

That is not to say that because you are a single parent you are incapable of bringing up children, far from it, but if we returned to the Mum and Dad family it would give the child the chance to be brought up by two adults instead of one giving it a better balanced outlook on life and displaying to the child the importance of stability in life.
