SIR - Once again your correspondent Mr Holmans has made some mistakes about the NOTA – ‘none of the above’ actions during the recent electoral conditions (Letters, July 12).
First, NOTA did not stand any candidates in the elections so no NOTA candidates could have failed to be elected.
Second, even if there had been any NOTA candidates they could not have not lost their deposits since there are no deposits in local government elections.
Assuming that David Cameron prepares a similar in/out referendum about membership of the EU – assuming that the Tories lose the next general election, which seems very likely – we shall need to vote for something better from Labour. Since this is unlikely, again NOTA will be needed once again.
