SIR – I have just read Mr Holmans’s letter (T&A, April 11) listing Tony Blair’s achievements as Prime Minister.

It seems that Mr Holmans has overlooked the ‘Blessed Tony’s greatest achievement – the invasion of Iraq with his best buddy George W Bush.

Countless thousands of innocent Iraqis killed on the basis of contrived evidence (WMDs), with Iraq now plunged into sectarian violence.

I understand that Mr Blair is a Middle East peace envoy and is now advocating military intervention to topple the Assad regime in Syria.

I’m sure that the British public will back Blair to the hilt on this. I also recently read that Tony Blair is now worth around £70 million. Not bad for a day’s work.

If political success and achievement is based on the deaths of countless thousands of innocent people, then Tony Benn can be regarded as a glorious failure.
