SIR – The long-suffering taxpaying voters could, on hearing the news of yet another MP previously having the full support of her party leader and our Prime Minister David Cameron now resigning Ministerial Office in disgrace over the financial impropriety, be forgiven for saying “Oh no, here we go again”, so just what’s changed at Westminster since the last expenses scandal?

Politicians of every party – who are all as bad as each other – just don’t understand the disgust or anger that heavily-taxed, hard-working, ordinary citizens struggling to cope with the rising cost of living feel when they hear of yet another example of the pampered political class abusing the public purse.

Even an MP’s basic salary is beyond the wildest dreams of most people, let alone what they really pick up when the spouse or partner is also on the payroll.

I believe public opinion of and confidence in the political class is now so low that soon a majority like me just won’t bother to vote at all.
