SIR – The response to your feature ‘Sharing a home to help others’ (March 24), about the Shared Care respite service for disabled children, has been encouraging.
We’ve had some great feedback from local people and we’d like to thank everyone who has got in touch to help children with disabilities and their families.
We would like to point out that the original Give Mum a Break scheme was staffed by unpaid volunteers, but foster carers on today’s Shared Care scheme are paid for the work they do for us and they undergo all the same checks, training and assessment as full time foster carers do.
Although Share the Care week is now over, it's never too late to express an interest. If you’d like to find out more about fostering, even if it’s just to get some answers on whether you qualify, please visit our website at bradford.gov.uk/fostering.
