SIR – Bradford and district would not be the place it is today without individuals or groups with the vision to prepare for the future. Those visions still exist today.

One such example is the City Connect Super Highway. There will always be nay-sayers and those who condemn long-term projects as a waste of resources.

Obviously it is right to ask questions especially when money is coming from the public purse. But what needs to be done is look to the future benefits of such investment.

The City Connect is pioneering and is setting a template for the rest of the country. No-one is pretending it won't be a challenge, but there is plenty of evidence attitudes are changing towards cycling in and around Bradford.

There’s at least eight schools within the stretch from the centre of Bradford to Thornbury whose pupils could benefit.

It should not be overlooked either that it is a two-way route – attracting people from Leeds to Bradford.

The route has been ridden by members of B-spoke, the Bradford Cycling Forum. There has never before been such a detailed consultation involving local cyclists.

I would urge everyone to get behind this project and register support online at cyclecityconnect.co.uk.
