Worthless actions of dumpers

There is little excuse for fly-tipping these days. Those who continue to engage in this illegal activity are doing so out of sheer laziness and lack of consideration for those around them.

A growing pile of rubbish is blighting the lives of residents in Frizinghall, creating an unsightly mess and also putting those who live nearby – including many children – at risk. Abandoned garbage can have sharp edges, attract vermin, and become a breeding ground for disease and bacteria, especially in warm, damp weather such as we are having at the moment.

Those who carry out the dumping doubtless think that they are not causing much of a problem. But the fines that accompany successful prosecutions should be deterrent enough – up to £50,000. If that isn’t enough, there is also the small matter of a potential spell in prison.

There are enough municipal rubbish dumps around Bradford to make fly-tipping a nonsense. Why go to the trouble of driving waste to a residential area when with just a tiny bit more effort it can be disposed of properly?

It is only right that fly-tipping brings with it such hefty penalties, and Bradford Council must do all they can to catch those responsible for this particular spate of dumping in Frizinghall and to pursue anyone else who is tempted to take the easy option and throw trash in residential areas.

The people responsible obviously have no pride in their city and are creating work and costing money to the local authority who has to clear it up.

Just like the rubbish they dump, their actions are truly worthless.
