Twitter ye not... No, Twitter ye do!

Ooh, this is a tight little spot we find ourselves in this week, isn’t it? But strangely appropriate for the latest missive. Come in and make yourselves comfortable – watch that plant, and try not to sit on the cat – and I’ll tell you more.

In the interests of keeping up with what the young people are doing, I’ve this week been investigating Twitter on that old internet.

Twitter, you may know, is basically a web thingy where you input a few words on something that you’re doing – literally a few words, because you’re not allowed to go over 140 characters, and that includes punctuation and spaces.

Most of it is along the lines of “Just woke up. Dog dead. Had toast”, but we at the T&A have spotted a cunning use for Twitter to help our legion of online readers to keep up to date with what’s in the paper and on our website. The 140-character limit is just right for a little teaser and a link to the T&A website, so we’ve started doing it as an experiment.

If you want to join in, get yourself a Twitter account – if you don’t already have one (it’s free) – and look us up at twitter.com/telegraphargus (no ‘and’ or & – Twitter’s a funny old thing sometimes). If you decide to “follow” us you’ll get regular updates and links pointing you to thrilling new content on our website, and little hints and tips as to what’s going to be in the next day’s paper.

Whether it’ll be useful or just a flash in the pan remains to be seen – and, to be honest, is up to you and how many of you decide to follow us.

For the short-term, though, we’ll certainly be Tweeting as much as we can.
