So, the packs have come through for my forthcoming races (first one in two weeks - get your sponsorship in now ladies and gentlemen...), and included in the help and advice for the London 10K is what to have for breakfast.
Carbs are the thing it seems - bananas, bagels, cereal etc. Not a fry up in sight.
Which is frankly disappointing.
There's also no mention of at least a gallon of tea - a staple of my morning routine for as long as I can remember (currently about two weeks).
As a test yesterday (born out of laziness rather than any scientific bent), I went running on the afore-mentioned gallon of fluid but minus any actual food.
This, it seems, was a bad idea.
Spectacularly bad, in fact, as I barely made it to the end of the road before my legs realised there was no fuel in the tank and started protesting. And as they were having one of their more painful days, this was not good.
So, as well as getting yourself in shape for charitable endeavours, you now have to change your lifestyle and eating habits.
Who knew doing a good deed was such hard work?
