I could knee-d some help
4:11pm Tuesday 17th June 2008 in News By Kahn Johnson
My training schedule has hit a bit of a stumbling block, I must sadly report.
My knees.
At the moment, sitting for a period of time, walking, running or simply standing up can cause me to scream, so attempting to run to Asda and back (can I get sponsorship for a free plug?) is a no-go.
On the upside, it clearly shows my nervous system is fully-functioning, so every cloud eh?
Fortunately, Scamp wasn't denied his training duties as he'd already been given the weekend off and was down in Suffolk visiting the in-laws.
While I was wincing periodically on Sunday - before, during and after Liverpool's turgid 1-0 win over Man City, and not always because of my knees - he was swimming in the sea, befriending other dogs and eating sausages.
It's a dog's life indeed.
And while I was trudging back to my car in the rain, staring at the back of Colin Murray's head and pondering why a man on his salary has such a terrible taste in leather jackets, my trusty canine companion was fast asleep on the in-laws back lawn. Snoring and parping in equal measure, I'm told.
Which is fine for him, he's not the one wracked with guilt that training has been missed for several days. Oh no, he leaves that to me.
I have pledged to run for charity, and right now key joints are objecting to walking out of necessity.
I wonder if I can get some new knees on e-bay...
