If M is is for Mystery, what's the S for?

By Kahn Johnson »

The great thing about having MS is the mystery it brings into your life. Each morning is a voyage of discovery as to which bits of you, if any, are going to be causing you pain.

Take this week for example.

Monday and Tuesday saw me stuck at home watching daytime telly as walking without pain was no longer an option. Yet Wednesday was like I had a new pair of legs. Today's not brilliant, but it's still a vast improvement on the start of the week.

Tomorrow will probably be pain free. Or it might not. It's all part of the fun.

All of this, of course, hampers the training somewhat (not that Scamp was complaining - he seemed more than happy to sleep his way through the day), but ever one to look on the positive it also gave me a chance to catch up with Saturday's Dr Who, watch Revista De La Liga rather than tape it, and enjoy Adam West and Shelley Long hamming it up with Dick Van Dyke in Diagnosis Murder.

Of course, given my new fitness regime, initial thoughts go to my routine and whether I'm overdoing it. Apparently not, whatever my knees and faithful pooch maintain, so while I can continue I will.

This week has certainly strengthened my resolve. I may be lazy, something my wife has a long list of examples for, but I'm also bloody-minded and stubborn.

If I choose to not go for a run because there's another classic episode of Frasier to watch, that's my business. But I'll be damned if my body is going to be calling the shots.
