Shoes reunited

By Dave Barnett »

There must be a case for setting up a website to reunite all these lost shoes and boots that are, in single measures, still appearing all over the district’s roads.
Without really trying I’ve spotted more of the errant footwear forlornly scattered in the edges of our highways, including several children’s trainers, a couple of workmen’s clod-hopping boots and the occasional dainty ladies’ slip-on high heelers.
One theory is that urban wild animals are carrying them off from outside people’s front doors where presumably they have been left to dry off or because the aroma was a little too pungent for them to be brought indoors.
Then, when the peckish animal realises its ‘booty’ is a little on the tough side, it is dropped in the gutter, probably with a bit of a gasp and a spit, to be left all alone at the mercy of the traffic thundering past.
But what to call a website to act as a halfway house for these lost soles? HeelBay? YouShoes? Faceboot? Or TrainersReunited?
