It was time for what we tend to call "a light spend" in biking circles, after the chain kept slipping wildly, and a tyre was left decidedly flat after a hole appeared in its wall and punctured the inner tube.
What a glorious day yesterday, with the sun shining and glistening off the crisp snow covering the countryside.
I did well, all things considered, to get through unscathed to work and back on the bike during the snow falls.
You don’t normally find me in the supermarket of a Saturday afternoon, but I’d decided to turn my hand to a bit of cook-ing after watching Hugh Very-longname rustle up a simple-looking lamb roast on TV.
No doubt some joker found it hilarious… to bury a great big log of wood under a great big pile of fallen leaves on the bridleway path.
Another "hilarious" youth, trying to make my ribs ache with mirth by shouting something at me from close quarters as I pedal up a hill en route for home.
A quick salutary tale for all those cyclists you see now and again pootling along without a helmet.
