I don’t know why, but I seem to be getting stuck behind the inebriated concert-goer at recent gigs.
Maybe there are others in the vast auditoriums, and others are suffering like me… I hope so, cos I’m beginning to feel persecuted.
Hot on the heels of the well-fuelled teenage girls at Bruce Springsteen’s gig at Old Traf-ford, we had Mr Very Happy right in front of us at The Police gig in the MEN in Manchester.
I wouldn’t mind so much, but he had absolutely no sense of rhythm, and he thrashed around and tried to clap vaguely to the beat of all what appeared to be his favourite numbers.
A bottle of wine tucked under his seat helped loosen him up even more, and by half way through he was urging everyone around to "(expletive) stand-up, c’mon!!"
Along with everyone else, I was happy to relish the fabulous gig in my own way, and put him out of my mind for much of the performance.
Which, incidentally, I rated as the best I’d been to so far this year… but there are more to come. Watch this space.
