It’s national tomato week, apparently, which is bad news for one of our mountain biker crew.
He made the mistake, earlier this year, of innocently passing comment, during a biking boys’ weekend-away breakfast, that there was nothing that kept its heat quite like a cooked tomato.
He has learned since that there is nothing quite like an innocent remark like that which retains its ability to be the butt of continued mockery from his cycling buddies.
He was especially unlucky, as, in the disbelieving silence and guffawing laughter that followed his observation on the science of a British breakfast, most people failed to latch on to the rejoindre from another biker that there was nothing quite lost its heat like scrambled egg.
His time may come, but in the meantime, National Tomato Week has provided plenty of ammunition for the mockers!
