Giving me a turn

How difficult can it be to indi-cate that you’re going to turn left before you actually start to do it?
Why do people wait at traffic lights, let them turn green, and then flick the indicator lever as they are turning the steering wheel?
What’s the point?
I make my point, of course, ‘cos a driver in a spanking new Audi A2 or something did that just as I was setting off on my bike alongside her, and had to jam all on as she cut in front of me, blissfully unaware of my presence.
I watch indicators like a hawk in these circumstances… defensive cycling, I think they might call it… which is a good job for the lady in question.
I spotted the tell-tale winking just in time and saved us a clash of metals.
I don’t think she’d have been too happy with a bike scratch all the way down the side of her gleaming new motor.
