He said he was delighted to be elected for the fifth time.

However, his majority has almost halved from 9,167 in 2005 to 4,622 in 2010.

Gerry Sutcliffe tells us he wants to push forward with the city centre regeneration and adds: "Clearly I'm delighted to be elected for a fifth time.

"It's great to have that level of support from people who have worked with me and we look forward to representing Bradford in the years to come."

Hello,

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who supported me at this election. Obviously I'm sorry we didn't win, but we made good progress, and I'll stay and fight for the people of Bradford. Thanks in particular to a small but dedicated team of volunteers - I'm proud of the way we fought this election in Bradford South, and we will keep working!
