UKIP will not be putting up a candidate in Shipley as they believe the Conservative hopeful has proved his anti-Europe credentials.

Unveiling its manifesto yesterday UKIP urged voters to ditch the three main parties.

After securing the election of 13 MEPs in the last European elections, UKIP is hoping to make a breakthrough with the election of its first MP in a Westminster election.

The party will not field candidates in constituencies held by MPs who it is satisfied are opposed to Britain’s membership of the EU, including against Philip Davies in Shipley.

UKIP said they would actively campaign to elect candidates who had proved their anti-EU credentials.

In its manifesto, UKIP promises an “end to uncontrolled mass immigration” through the introduction of an immediate five-year immigration freeze followed by a new stricter points-based system.

It reaffirms a plan to ban Muslim face coverings such as the burkha and pledges to “scrap political correctness in public affairs”.

And it commits to setting up a Royal Commission to “allow scientists to reach a conclusion about the facts and economic implications of global warming”, adding that the party is “sceptical” about man-made global warming.
