A film company, making its first film in Yorkshire, is searching for young movie-making talent in Bradford.
The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy (BYFA) – which includes Bradford College among its member institutions – is holding auditions for cast and crew of its first film made in the region.
The location has not yet been confirmed.
It is part of a challenge to simultaneously make four feature films in four regions – North and West Yorkshire and East and West Midlands – during the school summer holiday.
The Academy has received £500,000 from the Co-operative Group, enabling it to offer young people aged 14 to 25 the chance to get involved in a five-week summer camp covering various aspects of film-making.
The BYFA provides a link between the commercial film industry and media education, offering training and vocational experience.
Students work with professional film-makers to produce a full-length feature film, and get their name in the credits.
Former EastEnders actor Todd Carty has been involved in three BYFA productions.
He said: “It’s a terrific experience.
“The energy of the young people is fantastic; it is extremely inspiring to work with a group of such motivated individuals and the positive impact on all who participate is clear to see.”
