IT will be a case of 'There's no place like Bradford' when 75 women and girls promenade, in ruby slippers, through City Park.

Shipley-based arts company Irregular (Arts) is celebrating the 75th anniversary of iconic film The Wizard of Oz by organising a parade of 'Dorothys'.

The event, on Saturday, October 18, will see 75 women and girls descend on City Park. With support from Bradford City of Film, the event will include a screening of The Wizard of Oz on Bradford's Big Screen in Centenary Square.

The event takes part alongside the Born in Bradford festival. Irregular (Arts) is working with community, women's and girls' groups to explore the themes of the famous Oz story, with 'There's no place like Bradford' as a central theme. The arts company will also show a short film reflecting the stories of women and girls who have taken part.

Jenny Wilson, artist and director at Irregular (Arts), said: "We're really grateful for support from Arts Council England, Bradford Council, Bradford City of Film, Born in Bradford and Forsters Bistro, as well as all the brilliant women and girls taking part. We want to inspire the women of Bradford and wider communities with the wonderful story of Dorothy's journey over the rainbow. Seventy five Dorothys is our way of celebrating the 'heart', 'brains' and 'courage' of Bradford's women and girls."

Irregular (Arts) are running workshops in September and want community groups to take part. For more details visit irregulararts.com
