A beauty salon owned by The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger has been attacked by arsonists.

Essex Fire Service said it was called to a "small fire" at the salon in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, just after 10pm on Wednesday night.

A spokesman added: "The fire service investigation has been completed and the fire was started deliberately."

Some reports suggested the blaze had been caused by a petrol bomb attack. The windows were also smashed.

The 24-year-old had officially opened the Lauren's Way salon in Queen's Road just hours earlier.

Police were initially called to reports of a burglary. They found the property on fire and a flat above the salon was evacuated.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which caused minimal damage to the property, and officers remain at the scene."

Witnesses should call police at Loughton on 101.
