Plea issued over assault

A 20-year-old man was left with a fracture to his eye socket following a racially aggravated assault.

Officers have appealed for information following the incident in Batley Road, Heckmondwike, when the man was walking to Junction Superstores.

A police spokesman said: “It is reported the victim was subjected to racially abusive remarks before being assaulted by a group of four men.”

The men were in their early 20s wearing hooded jackets with one wearing a cap.

Anyone with any information about the incident, which occurred at 8.25pm on Friday, has been asked to contact Det Con Julie Holloway at Dewsbury Police Station on the 101 number.
