CLECKHEATON celebrated three decades of folk this weekend.
Organisers said the turnout to the town’s 30th festival was brilliant.
Festival chairman David Minich said the sunny break in the British weather had brought out bumper crowds who descended on the town to enjoy performances, sessions, singarounds, street entertainment, a market and morris dancing.
“We’ve had fun and we’ll be back next year to do it all over again for the 30th anniversary,” he added.
Names featured in the packed three-day programme held at venues across the town included French-born singer Flossie Malavialle and highly-acclaimed folk duo Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith. Popular Saltaire based Pheonix Ceilidh Band also had a spot.
Landlord of The Wickham in St Peg Lane, Stephen Hey said: “We’ve been incredibly busy. It’s great for the town. We’ve seen lots of talent, as always, and lots of characters - as ever. The morris dancing competition we hosted was also popular, the bells are still ringing.”
