OAKWELL Hall Country Park in Birstall is set to benefit from a grant generated by the 5p charge on carrier bags which was introduced last year.
The park has been shortlisted to receive either £8,000, £10,000 and £12,000, through the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.
But the exact amount that Oakwell (pictured) receives will be decided on by shoppers voting for their favourite of three local projects with a token given to them at the checkout at Tesco stores in Birstall, Mirfield and Cleckheaton, for example.
The park will use the grant to replace the old dipping platform behind the barn with a bigger structure which will include seats, interpretation panels and new planting.
Work will be done by the park’s volunteers and will start in September after the pond dipping season is over.
Anyone wanting to vote can do so until Sunday in store.
