A TEENAGE boy had his mountain bike stolen in a daylight robbery on the Spen Valley Greenway.

The 16-year-old was cycling between a bus depot and Morrisons supermarket in Heckmondwike when he was pushed from his Whistle mountain bike by a man who then rode off on it.

The robber is described as a white, aged 30 to 40, about 5ft 8ins tall, skinny with thinning brown hair, which police say appeared to be full of dust.

He had stubble and was wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt that might have had a design or writing in the middle, and a black rucksack.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton, of Kirklees District CID, appealed for witnesses to the robbery, which occurred shortly after 5pm last Thursday.

"This offence took place when it was still light and I am sure someone will have seen this happen," he said.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm and might have seen the suspect prior to the incident, or anyone who saw someone of similar description riding a bike in the area to come forward."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kirklees District CID on 101, quoting crime reference 13150317351.
