POLICE will be talking to a ten-year-old boy after a green laser pen was shined at the emergency service's helicopter over Birstall.
Officers were called to an address on the Wilton Estate in Batley at 9.50pm on Tuesday following a report from the National Police Air Service aircraft it had been lasered.
The device was seized and the boy will be spoken to regarding the matter.
Superintendent Tyron Joyce of the National Police Air Service said: "This may initially be mistaken for a harmless joke. However the use of laser pens against aircraft can endanger the lives of the crew and passengers on board.
"In the past this has caused sight loss to pilots of civilian aircraft.
"Any use of laser pens in this manner is a criminal offence that will be investigated thoroughly."
