FITNESS facilities are set to be expanded at Spenborough Pool in Liversedge after Kirklees Council approved a project that could cost up to £395,000.
The expansion will include a new fitness studio, spin studio and female changing room. The cost of the project is expected to be between £360,000 and £395,000, with the money set to come out of existing Kirklees Active Leisure budget.
The facilities are being built to meet the demand from the closure of the Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre in Cleckheaton in May 2016, prior to it being rebuilt.
Councillor Peter O’Neill, cabinet member for communities and leisure, said: “I welcome the decision to go ahead with the expansion. By providing continuity of service for the people using the facilities, we help to ensure ongoing health.”
