A MOTHER, who deliberately drove at another woman after fighting with her in the street, has been jailed for nine months.

Shantel Ullah, 29, had pulled Nadia Butt into the road by her hair and kicked her during the sustained assault, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.

The judge, Recorder Kate Tulk, told Ullah: “You say you drove at her intending to frighten her.

“It was only by the grace of God she was not seriously injured, if not worse.”

Prosecutor Mehran Nasiri said Ullah, who was in a Saab car which she had taken without the permission of the owner, saw Miss Butt with her two young children outside the Paradise Green Post Office in Great Horton, Bradford.

The defendant shouted at Miss Butt and walked towards her.

She then grabbed her hair, dragged her into the road and threw her to the ground Miss Butt felt blows and kicks to her head.

Mr Nasiri said Miss Butt managed to sit up but was attacked again. She fled to the post office but the defendant got in the car and drove at her, hitting the door.

The complainant was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

Ullah, of Carr Bottom Road, Wibsey, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm, aggravated vehicle taking, and driving over the prescribed limit.

Recorder Tulk said there had been a long and sorry history between Ullah and Miss Butt, arising from them having had the same father to their children.

She said it must have been terrifying for Miss Butt, whose children had to watch. Ullah was also banned from driving for two years.
