IT has become a familiar scene-setter for television productions and now visitors to Oakwell Hall in Birstall are being given the opportunity to explore its television profiles in a series of Saturday afternoon tours starting on January 10.

Recently used as a location for the forthcoming BBC drama 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell,' the museum and country park in Nutter Lane, Birstall, played host to a star-studded cast when filming took place last year.

Marc Warren, who played professional trickster Danny Blue in the hit BBC series Hustle, Samuel West, whose credits include Mr Selfridge and Fleming, Wuthering Heights actress Charlotte Riley, Enzon Cilenti, who starred in Prisoners of Wives and Rome and Paul Kaye from Game of Thrones and Stella are just some of the notable names involved in the drama Scene-setters transformed the hall from a beautiful Elizabethan manor, built by its former inhabitant John Batt, into a spooky, magical and vine covered Starecross Hall for the drama which is based on Susanna Clarke's best-selling novel.

But it isn't the first time the venue has featured on the small screen. Oakwell Hall appeared in ITV's adaptation of Wuthering Heights and The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister.

The tours run from 2pm until 3pm and also take place on February 7 and March 7. Pre-booking is essential. For more information visit oakwell.hall@kirklees.gov.uk or call (01924) 326240.
