AN injured van passenger was abandoned by a driver and third occupant who fled after the vehicle went out of control and crashed.
Firefighters said it appeared the driver had lost control of the Vauxhall Astra van while trying to negotiate a turn from Valley Road into Thomas Street in the Millbridge area, Cleckheaton.
The van crashed and the driver fled the scene immediately, along with a passenger who had apparently been travelling in the back of the vehicle.
An 18-year-old female passenger was hurt in the collision and was still in the vehicle when emergency services arrived. Paramedics asked firefighters to remove the roof from the van. The casualty was freed using a long board, to prevent any risk of aggravating injuries caused in the collision.
The incident happened at about 9.45am on Saturday.
