IT'S not every day you see a privet hedge transformed into a pirate ship.

But motorists travelling along Clifton Common, towards Brighouse, are greeted by the re-creation of Neverland complete with a swash-buckling Captain Hook, his nemesis the Crocodile, Pirate Smee, Peter Pan and a flying Tinkerbell between the gardens of two terraced properties.

Joiner Steve Kilbourne, whose wife Rachel and family are Disney fans, spent two days building the ship over the hedge he shares with neighbours Lynne and Neil Crossley, whose children Daisy, Finn and Phoebe, used their artistic flair to create the scarecrow characters.

The Kilbourne's children Nahla and Kiara were also involved in the eye-catching project which earned the families first place in the recent Clifton Scarecrow Beer Festival.

They have donated the £50 prize to The Children's Place Foundation.
