Pensioner in fire drama

Firefighters rescued a 79-year-old wheelchair bound woman yesterday after a newspaper fell onto a heater, causing a fire at her Skipton home.

Two crews were called to help the woman when the fire started in the living room of her bungalow in North Parade at 4.10am.

When they arrived they found the woman could not get out and helped her to safety.
