Settle prepares for jubilee market

10:44am Friday 25th May 2012

Settle’s historic market place is to be transformed into a bustling continental market as part of the town’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

Market traders from France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Holland, Poland and other countries will be dressed in their traditional costumes, selling authentic foods and handmade crafts from their various regions.

Town councillor Steve Amphlett said: “The continental market has been arranged as part of our efforts to attract more visitors to the town and to provide something special and unusual for local residents over the diamond jubilee weekend.

“We hope to attract people from far and wide who are looking for an extra special day out in a wonderful Dales market town.”

The market will run next Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, and for more details, visit settle.org.uk
