A group of 15 people are planning to sleep rough to raise money for the YMCA’s Pinder House in Skipton.

Katie Caroll is organising the one-night event held in conjunction with the national Sleep Easy initiative taking place at YMCAs throughout the country.

Sleep Easy was set up to raise awareness and funds for disadvantaged and homeless young people.

And Katie, who has been a resident at Pinder House for five months, is keen to help the YMCA because it helped her and her family at a time of need. She said: “I’ve wanted to do it because they helped me get to where I am now.”

Katie said Skipton Youth Centre had donated sleeping bags for the 15 YMCA residents and staff taking part in the event, which runs from 10pm on March 21 to 8.30am on March 22.

And, to help their aching limbs, the group will be treated to free use of the leisure centre at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton.
