Personal injury claims reach £150,000

Personal injury claims amounting to more than £150,000 were made against North Yorkshire County Council last year. In information released under the Data Protection Act, the authority confirmed that the cost of claims during 2011 was £151,262. This figure relates to a total of 25 incidents. Nine members of the public tripped and were injured on defective footpaths and five employees were injured by defective equipment. A further 11 incidents involved employees injured by a defective system of work, members of the public injured by defective equipment, defective systems of operation and defects in highways or tripping on potholes.
