Valuable designer wear is taken in organised raid at premises

Detectives are hunting raiders who escaped with a haul of thousands of pounds of sportswear (pictured) in a break-in at a Skipton business.

Police were alerted yesterday morning to the raid at premises on the Snaygill Ind-ustrial Estate.

The burglars had lifted a manhole cover and disabled the burglar alarm.

Police said the offenders forced a grille to break in and stole £11,000 of stock. The haul included 100 pairs of Adidas Samba trainers, 132 pairs of tracksuit bottoms, 122 swimsuits, 187 pairs of shin pads and 55 pairs of football boots. Adidas F50 T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts and goalkeepers’ gloves were also taken.

Police believe the burglars struck between 11pm on Sunday and early yesterday. Detective Constable Shane Martin, of Skipton CID, said: “This appears to have been a targeted burglary by people who knew exactly what they were doing.

“They have stolen a large volume of stock which is worth a lot of money and has caused great inconvenience and upset the owners of the business.

“Many of the items stolen are very distinctive and I am appealing for anyone who has any information about the incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers.”

Det Con Martin said he would like to speak to anybody who had been offered any of the items to buy in suspicious circumstances. Officers were yesterday reviewing CCTV footage in the area in an effort to trace the offenders.

Anyone with information can call Det Con Martin on 0845 6060247, quoting reference number 12100138739.

I can safely say that it will not be a woman who is behind this! She would still be looking to see if the trainers match the t-shirts and if they have all of those things with a matching handbag!
