POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 70s was allegedly hit with a cricket bat during an assault.

The incident involved a 50-year-old man allegedly chasing another man aged in his 70s and striking him with a cricket bat.

The victim escaped into into a nearby house.

The incident happened on Friday, June 30 on Greenfield Street, Skipton, at around 8.30pm close to the grassed area.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for questioning. He has been released under investigation.

The victim received treatment at hospital.
