THE wildlife of Brazil was the topic under discussion at a meeting of Wharfedale Naturalist Society.

Barbara and Peter Murphy gave a talk on the wildlife to be found in the South American country, including the maned wolf, the rarest canine in the world, the blue morph butterfly, with a possible 8in wing span, and the rare but deadly Bushmaster snake.

The group also heard about a jaguar seen swimming across a river.

The society meets again on January 27 for a talk by John Gardner called More wild life and wild places.
