A FUNDRAISER has smashed her target - and still has a marathon row to complete.

Jo Moseley (pictured) set herself a challenge back in May to row a million metres on an indoor rowing machine, and to also row a half and a full marathon.

Her mammoth effort was to raise £4,219 - the number of metres in a rowing marathon - for Macmillan Cancer Support, as a thank you for the care both her parents received.

But Jo, of Embsay, Skipton, crossed the million-metre mark in 200 days, a month ahead of schedule and has now raised more than £7,000.

Jo, who has two teenage boys, both at Ermysted’s Grammar School, is being sponsored by estate agents, Dacre, Son and Hartley, and on Saturday was given boxes of Yorkshire Tea to hand out.

She also held a raffle, with prizes including the recently released Two Days in Yorkshire book, about the summer’s Tour De France and signed by Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive, Gary Verity.

She started her challenge on her parent’s wedding anniversary in May and her final marathon is due to take place on December 21 at Ilkley Tennis Club - on the first anniversary of her mother’s death.
