A meeting and fundraiser, aimed at raising money for a charity which benefits schools in Nepal will be held in Settle this weekend.

Trustees for the Kids at School in Nepal (KASIN) charity are inviting members of the public to its ninth annual general meeting, which will take place in the Friends Meeting House on Saturday at 2pm.

The meeting, which will be attended by Skipton and Ripon MP Julian Smith, will feature a slide presentation about the charity’s work in helping to train teachers at eight schools in the remote Phulkharka valley.

In the evening, people are also being invited to a KASIN fundraiser at The Courtyard in Settle.

The event, billed as a typical Nepali evening, will feature a performance by Nepali singer Sharmila Bardewa, who performs classical, folk, modern pop and regional songs from around Nepal.

The evening starts at 6.30pm with dinner being served from 7pm.

Tickets are available from charity secretary and Settle resident Arthur Benbow on 01729 824222.
