MPs have called for an end to the “assault” on greenfield sites as campaigners protest against a bid for about 100 new homes.
Pudsey MP Stuart Andrew has joined fellow MPs Philip Davies (Con, Shipley) and Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Otley), to back a new community group called Wharfedale and Airedale Review Development (Ward).
The group will fight plans to develop greenfield sites along the A65. Mr Andrew said it was time local people were given more power on decisions.
His words came as campaigners went to Leeds Civic Hall for a planning inquiry into a scheme to build 98 homes in Guiseley.
Proposals by Redrow to build on Netherfield Road were turned down by Leeds City Council in 2007. A Government inspector will now decide an appeal.
