A 20-year-old Yeadon man has died after being struck by a car.
The accident happened near the Red Bus Cafe on the A64 near Leeds at 10.45pm on Saturday.
An ambulance was called and reported to police that the man had died from his injuries.
Traffic police were today appealing for witnesses to the incident.
The victim was not being named by police until relatives have been informed.
A spokesman said: “The man had been part of a group travelling back from York to Leeds in a minibus which had stopped at the layby so passengers could take a toilet break.
"He was struck by a black Vauxhall Astra which was travelling towards York. The woman driver stopped at the scene and has been spoken by officers.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to the collision is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on (01924) 293047 or via the non-emergency number 101.
