Otley Pub Club's mission is to get people talking about the town's pubs, and they certainly managed that with yesterday's Yorkshire Day stunt.

The club has unveiled plans to rename every pub in town after a Yorkshire celebrity on Yorkshire Day next year - and aimsto persuade as many of them as possible to pop over for a pint in their new namesake.

Celebs were matched up with pubs last night in a draw conducted by erstwhile Reeves and Mortimer sidekick, Charlie Chuck.

Bob Brook, secretary of Otley Pub Club and organiser of the project, said: “The draw threw up some interesting pairings and no doubt will lead to some heated discussions. It is a bit of fun as well as a good way of showing the affection that Otley people have for famous sons and daughters of Yorkshire. It’s a diverse list and shows what an inclusive town Otley is."
